Continually puts the victim down.
Name Calling.
Attempts to make the victim appear mentally unstable.
Plays mind games that are on the edge of dangerous or are dangerous.
Blames the victim constantly saying she "deserves" it.
Uses the victim as a slave/servant in her own home.
Declines to allow her to participate in decision making.
The victim is usually not permitted to work outside of the home.
Not letting the other know about or have access to family income
Threatens to hurt victim or relatives to control her actions.
Threatens to commit suicide and placing blame for it on the victim.
Threatens to make up charges to have victim arrested or institutionalized.
The victim is controlled by abusers body language in public situations.
Abuses pets to reinforce fear in victim of what will be done to them.
Threatens to take the children away, hide them or even kill them.
Decides who the victim can see, talk to, or where they can go.
Blames everyone else especially you, for his mistakes or failures.
Prevents victim from seeing family or friends.

These are just a few of the things that are warning signs of abuse.
