The "Smiles for Children" project started on the Embroidery Swaps site with a group of women who wanted to make a difference.  It started out as a single project to send small gift bags with embroidered toys in them to children from Hurricane Katrina.  It has sense grown and split off to its own site where it now sends its gift bags to children around the world.  Reservations here in the USA, with Missionaries to Honduras, South America, Philippines and any where else that there is a need.

If you are an embroiderer (machine), or if you would like to help and don't have an embroidery machine, they always need children's gift bags.  Make it a family event and use it as a tool to teach children (or earn their badge or credits) the art of compassion while having fun.
